What is PRP (Platelet-rich Plasma)?

Blood is a liquid (plasma) that contains red and white blood cell and platelets. Platelets help clot blood and also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors important in the healing of injuries.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has 4 to 6 times more platelets than what is typically found in blood. The concentration of platelets and grwoth factors has important implications inhealing, and can potentially regenerate tissue and cartilage.
